Rapido was developed by the company following a request from its Italian subsidiary Mito. Unlike traditional plastic matrix, where the matrix is formed from two separate shoulders, Rapido is made up of a single PVC strip, out of which the channel is then routed.
This single-strip design gives users product durability and stability benefits, C&T said, as it is impossible for the shoulders to delaminate or split from the base.
Other unique features include a rounded chamfer on both shoulders, which assist the flow of the board over the matrix, as well as an extra flexible locator to allow easy removal, the manufacturer added.
Rapido is available in multiple sizes with heights ranging from 0.3mm to 1.4mm. In addition, as well as centred matrix, C&T said the new range is also available in special sizes such as mini, off centre and double crease.
C&T Matrix managing director Simon Shenton said the UK commercialisation of Rapido follows on from a successful launch in Italy.
“This latest innovation demonstrates how C&T is leading the way in terms of new products and outstanding service for die cutters, plate makers and the print and packaging industries,” he said.
Wellingborough, Northamptonshire-based C&T offers several brands of creasing matrices, including Kiss, Jazz, XTC and Trax Plus, and also manufactures and supplies a range of accessories for die-making, die-cutting and print finishing.
